What to Expect

  • Your call will begin within one minute from the time you make a connection with the Video Relay Interpreter
  • The interpreter will appear on screen with a timesheet noting the date, estimated duration of the assignment and assignment number
  • Interpreter will start with "Hi my name is…" Please be prepared to begin your call at this time
  • The client is responsible for keeping track of the duration of the call
  • The interpreter will perform with professionalism in accordance with the RID written code of ethics
  • The interpreter will maintain the proper boundaries between themselves, the client and the Deaf consumer
  • It is up to the client to clearly indicate at the end of the call that they are ready to disconnect.  For billing and client information, the Video Relay Interpreter will confirm the start and end time of the call before disconnecting
